Shake the Middle Tree, a novel

A Story of Giant Proportions

Frontcover

A coming of age story: 17 year old Ronnie thinks she knows everything she needs to about her family. She tolerates her older brother Thatcher—just barely—and avoids her alcoholic mother Vivian completely. But one Saturday morning changes everything for Ronnie. Enter Juanita: long lost sister and giant family secret number one. Standing over seven feet tall, Juanita brings the unavoidable truth to a family where secrets are as common as table salt.

To say I loved this book is an understatement! I haven’t read a book in a long time, but I couldn’t put this one down! It would be 1:00am and I’d have to be at work at 7am but I’d still be reading. It’s just that good! I recommend it to anyone and everyone!

This book is wonderful. It is character-driven and my students loved it. I highly recommend that anyone teaching adolescents adopt it.
